An Addition in Charlotte's Historic District

Our client for this project was a growing family in Dilworth, Charlotte, NC, who needed more space but had no plans to leave their historic home. They took a look at our work and loved what they saw. This couple asked us to rework the second floor, adding square footage, improving the layout, and bringing in more natural light. The Hopedale Builders team built a second-story addition and remodel that gave them exactly what they needed while preserving the home's historical roots.

A Loft Area for the Kids

We transformed the house from a three-bedroom, three-bath home to a four-bedroom, three-bath home, complete with a bright loft area for TV time, crafts, and homework. The two kids now have equally sized bedrooms and closets, reducing that form of sibling rivalry. An awkwardly shaped bedroom became a dedicated office, perfect for working from home. Our custom addition services allowed us to give our clients precisely what they needed.

Updated Shed Dormers and Natural Light

We updated this home in the Dilworth Historic District with custom cabinetry, a showstopping sage green bath vanity, a custom built-in in the loft, and a window bench perfect for reading.

The existing second floor felt cramped and dark, so our team built a reconfigured layout and added two shed dormers. These changes increased ceiling height, created extra square footage, and dramatically increased natural light in the room. Now, every space feels open, bright, and more inviting.

Matte Black Plumbing Features Make a Point

The most important features in a bathroom remodel include parts that aren't visible, but this bathroom blends different eras with matte black plumbing fixtures and a black basalt natural stone tile floor for a sleek touch. We added a marble countertop and shiplap wainscot to accent the window bench.

A Team Effort

Part of our process was collaborating with the homeowners and their Architect's talented team so we could build a historic district addition in Charlotte that feels like it was always meant to be thereβ€”only brighter, better, and built for the future.
