Project: Two-story addition, interior renovation, and covered porch

Goal: Expand the home to meet the needs of a growing family

Location: Dilworth

A Home That's Doubled in Size

Love grows in smaller houses, but a remodel gives that love room to expand. In the historic district in Dilworth, we built a two-story addition for a young family, doubling the size of their house.

The client for this project was a married couple with two small children. They came to us because they loved their historic home and its location in Dilworth, didn’t want to move, and wanted more space for their growing family.

We were excited to work in the historic district and build a fresh new space for this family. Our home additions service allows families to stay in the homes they love but also grow them to match their household's needs.

The Details That Matter

We added a kitchen, pantry, family room, powder room, and mudroom to the first floor. On the second floor, we added a primary suite and a laundry room. But we didn’t stop there! We also built a covered porch off the family room for outdoor living and socialization for this family. Our process ensured that our clients felt heard every step of the way and that we understood clearly what they were looking for.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but we wager that most eyes would appreciate this finished home. This home is styled in a blend of traditional, modern, and whimsical. The home features light and neutral colors like white and grey with wood accents for warmth. Our clients selected decor and wallpaper that added a touch of whimsy.

The Kitchen

This is not your mama’s kitchen. This kitchen wows with Crystal custom frameless cabinetry with a white oak kitchen island that also matches the living room fireplace wall.

The Mudroom

What’s a mudroom if it’s not functional and set up for ease of use? This mudroom is not only functional but pretty. It includes deep locker cabinets with custom cutouts, a shiplap wall feature, and Thibault chinoiserie wallpaper.

The Powder Room

The powder room features a chair rail, dark & moody paint, and Cole and Son wallpaper. This room is a perfect place to take a break from the chaos of family life and breathe in peace and quiet.

The Living Room

In the new living room, we installed beaded-inset white oak bookshelves with pocket doors below for storage and a flush electric fireplace.

The Primary Suite

In this home’s new primary suite, we went all out with a large bedroom and a luxury primary bath with a huge shower, double sink vanity with custom recessed medicine cabinet, makeup vanity area, and freestanding tub.

HDC Requirements

We also had to maintain specific original elements of the home. Remodels in the Historic District can present extra challenges, but handling them also gives our team an extra layer of satisfaction.

Client Testimonial

"Brett and crew were amazing to work with. They were professional and easy to talk to. If we ever need anything again in the future, we'll definitely be calling them."
