Project: Outdoor oasis, kitchen.
Goal: Create outdoor living, inside.
Name: Kitchen & Outdoor Living Remodel in Myers Park
Architect: Peter Tart
So Close, Yet So Far Away
What do you do when being in your kitchen feels like you’re always just outside of where the fun is happening? Knock out an entire wall. No…really.
The kitchen in this Tudor home in Myers Park was small and dated. The homeowners were tired of the inside feeling so far away from the outside, even though they were only a few feet apart. The couple dreamed of a resort-like kitchen that flowed seamlessly into a backyard oasis, complete with a pool, outdoor kitchen, shower, and plenty of space to lounge.
Their vision of an indoor space that flowed effortlessly from the live edge kitchen countertop to the outdoor entertainment paradise was brought to life with a modern industrial edge. Timber, steel, and concrete are balanced by the generous use of rich wood tones throughout every space, making the kitchen and outdoor areas feel like one huge entertainment retreat.
Breaking the barrier between the in and the out was accomplished using an impressive 20’ glass NanaWall. Now, the couple and their guests could effortlessly walk from the indoor refrigerator, through the outdoor kitchen, across the sprawling lounge area, swim the length of the pool, and glide onto the tanning ledge to get some sun.
